James G. Luetkemeyer, MD

Biography

A native of St. Elizabeth, Missouri, Dr. Luetkemeyer received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering, summa cum laude, at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and his M.D. at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, cum laude.

After his internship at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, Dr. Luetkemeyer completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Miami-Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. He joined Capitol Eye Care in 1995.

Dr. Luetkemeyer’s practice has an emphasis in the areas of LASIK surgery, cataract surgery, premium lens implantation, glaucoma/minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and corneal disease.

Dr. Luetkemeyer was honored by his colleagues with his election to the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons Board of Directors, serving as the society’s president in 2005. He received the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s President’s Award for his leadership and patient advocacy. Additionally, he has received gubernatorial appointments to the Missouri Motor Vehicle Advisory Board and the Missouri Children’s Vision Commission.

Outside the office, Dr. Luetkemeyer enjoys golf, water sports, and snow skiing. He has two children, Timothy and Taylor.
